A perfectionist with underlying-qualities-of-procrastination. And someone with a far too long breath under the guise of ‘hard work will get you far’ – which sometimes ruins her health – that is Michelle Braakhuis described in two sentences. The love of writing runs through her veins, storytelling is in her blood. And where this fascination for words started at a young age, more about that here, she is still in the quest to find the most ideal way to earn her money while writing since the start of her first blog in 2017.

She shares the struggles that come along with this, as well as the many tips & tricks that have or have not worked in her favour regarding blogging, SEO, branding, marketing, social media, and storytelling.

Michelle has been trying to get her digital nomad life off the ground for a few years now, but actually, she prefers to find a permanent location near Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam, the city that has stolen her heart ever since the rail-runner holiday trips. A subtle penthouse on the Zuidas in Amsterdam or a rural home near the Randstad will be a perfect fit. Before finding her second home in Norway, Switzerland, or someplace with heaps of fresh air and breathtaking nature.

As a hardworking go-getter, with 13 years of work experience within retail and hospitality, she is looking for the next position that will be the starting point of her total career switch. Helping entrepreneurs or companies finding the right words so that their why comes across clearly is something that Michelle, as a word-nerd, sees as a fantastic challenge. She takes various courses and invests her time and money in different training programs while trying to find a balance between maintaining her social life and following her dreams, and finding work. Also, she tries not to lose sight of her love for movie marathons, maintaining a rhythm as an amateur athlete (Nike addict is also really on her resume), and planning her next trip by booking the cheapest tickets and most fantastic AirBnbs.

Can she establish collaborations with brands she loves? Can she manage to travel the world working from behind her laptop while experiencing the struggles of living with severe endometriosis? Can she get a merchandise line off the ground in her own name? Turn a songwriter’s dream into reality? The answers to these questions and descriptions of her adventures can be found in her blogs and updates on her social media accounts.

The Dutch native of ’92 also shares her love and passion for the plant-based and vegan lifestyle on her other blog www.thechickpeascuisine.com. This blog is a must-visit if you are looking for recipe ideas or want to know which vegan eateries can be found in Amsterdam, among other places.

We live in a time where the online world is cut and edited on all sides, but every now and then you come across a blog with real stories written by normal people. And The Revitalized Chick Pea is one of them.

Life is now. And it comes with trial and error, Michelle knows this like no other. But fuck-it, keep going and keep chasing those ambitions and dreams. Or go looking for it if you haven’t found your calling yet. You’re never too old to learn, never too young to start. The clock is ticking, whether you stand still or not. And if you are lucky enough to grow older, healthy, and well, what’s stopping you?

Michelle likes to be inspired by the stories of others, so you will also find guest bloggers, interviews with entrepreneurs, and lists of must-read books on TCPC. Because whatever you write, whatever sentences you write and share, your words are more powerful than you will ever realise.

Everyone is an artist in his, her or their own existence, colouring their canvas with the art of kindness and passion for life. Find your voice, tell your story. No border should be a burden to disconnect shared interests.

“I’M SELFISH, IMPATIENT, AND A LITTLE INSECURE. I MAKE MISTAKES, I AM OUT OF CONTROL, AND AT TIMES HARD TO HANDLE. BUT IF YOU CAN’T HANDLE ME AT MY WORST, THEN YOU SURE AS HELL DON’T DESERVE ME AT MY BEST.”

MARILYN MONROE

Life happens, we all know that. That life has the ability to take several turns in life, those we never thought possible, that’s something Jemaine is familiar with. Priscilla Nooijen

“THE SCARIEST MOMENT IS ALWAYS JUST BEFORE YOU START.”

STEPHEN KING

Priscilla has a love for food, she contributed writing and sharing several recipes that you can find on my other site tcpc.com. Since this year (2020), she will also blog once a month about what’s the definition of having a hobby these days while enjoying life in her first bought apartment. At 27 years old, trying to find a balance between work, working out, seeing family and friends, and having fun while being alone, she decided to find something that can become her hobby and allows her to forget about all the madness that comes with living in Amsterdam. Want to know how she’s doing? Click here and find out what kind of blog post she wrote for TRCP this month.

Dayah Guy

“PERHAPS, THROUGH WRITING I MIGHT BE ABLE TO FIND PEACE WITH MY OWN ENDLESS WANDERING. WHETHER IT BE PHYSICAL, MENTAL, OR EMOTIONAL. HOPEFULLY, ONE DAY, I CAN BECOME MY OWN HOME. ONE BLOG AT THE TIME.”

D.G.

Curious about her roots and wanting to find herself, Dayah decided to leave The Netherlands behind, and start a new life in Tel Aviv. Where life challenges you to ask yourself the bigger questions about everything that happens, especially while traveling and living alone, Dayah decided to write it all down and share her thoughts and answers through blogging.
